You Owe Me/Better Things

This week I listened to a double feature of The Chainsmokers and Jaden Smith. First, I took a listen at The Chainsmokers' latest release, "Sick Boy....Beach House." It was OK. I mean there was nothing real spectacular or mind blowing here. It was good background music. The songs I enjoyed the most were 'You Owe Me" and "Somebody." As for Jaden Smith, his mixtape "The Sunset Tapes: A Cool Tape Story" was better than I expected from him. I've heard some stories about his strange lifestyle. I even enjoyed some of the tracks, including "SOHO," "Plastic" and "Better Things." Obviously he doesn't have the swag or style of his pops, but he makes some decent, listenable music, and that's a coup to me.

I won in all four fantasy football leagues this week! That put me in third, fourth, fifth and fifth place. I've clinched a playoff spot in one league, am set to do so in two more and am still fighting for the fourth and final spot in dynasty with two weeks left.

As for photos, all I have is some photos from the Pierz Pioneers state semifinal loss to eventual Class 3A Champ, Rochester Lourdes. Enjoy.

Solara

An LP popped up for me by the Smashing Pumpkins, one of the great '90s rock bands. "SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1" is a decent collection of Pumpkins songs that are very listenable. I especially enjoyed the song "Solara," which I somehow missed as a single earlier this year. The LP certainly has Billy Corgan's fingerprints all over it.

I had yet another setback in most of my fantasy leagues. I had a horrible week and was pushed out of playoff position in dynasty, while I lost and dropped to fifth place in my main re-draft league. In another league I won, but remained in fourth, and another I won and moved from sixth to fifth.

Anyhow, I have a good number of photos from section swimming and Pierz state quarterfinal football. Enjoy.

Pressure

Muse, dear Muse, this is not your best effort. One of my very favorite rock bands recently released "Simulation Theory," and it was one strange, crazy ride. There were some fantastic tracks like "The Dark Side" and "Pressure," and there were some weird, pop-punk-esque songs "Get Up and Fight" and "Something Human." Also a couple of throwback Muse songs ("Thought Contagion," "Dig Down") that were really good, but sounded a bit like retreads. In the Super Deluxe edition, the album gets better, because most of the bonus tracks are better than the originals, especially the version "Pressure" which gets even better because it is with the UCLA Marching Band, and that's pretty cool. However, Muse, you can do better.

In fantasy football, I won in 3-of-4 leagues and am still in playoff position in all four leagues (three fourth places and one sixth place).
