Why Walk a Dog?

"Why Walk a Dog?" More like, why listen to Jack White's latest album, "Boarding House Reach?" This was pretty bad. After gushing about the single "Over and Over and Over" a few weeks ago, I was excited, and this album was just a flop, plain and simple. Apart from the aforementioned single and a couple portions of some creative stuff later in the album, there was not much to like. I don't necessarily blame White, because I really like a lot of his other stuff. I also understand that to be creative like he is, one has to walk the line between genius and complete trash. Unfortunately, "Boarding House Reach" fell right into the garbage can. Better luck next time.

I have a couple of pictures of Little Falls baseball practice in a hockey rink, because it's Minnesota and it's still March.

Lemon

The latest remix of the single "Lemon" by N.E.R.D, Rhianna and Drake is pretty dope. A very "The Motto" vibe to the beat followed with some clever lyrics could make this the next hit song on the airwaves, interwebs and perhaps even the clubs. I enjoyed it. There is also a couple other good singles out that readers should check out. For rock fans, "Can't Deny Me," by Pearl Jam is OK. On the country side, Chris Stapleton's ballad, "I Want Love" is amazing. As far as more hip-hop, listeners can't go wrong with "Alone" by Halsey, Big Sean and Stefflon Don. Disney Channel fans will recognize Sabrina Carpenter in a single "Alien" feat. Jonas Blue.

I have a few photos to share from the Swanville boy's basketball loss to St. John's Prep, March 8. I won't have another blog now for a couple weeks as local spring sports are a couple weeks away.

Pink Lemonade

Thanks to Saturday Night Live I discovered a new artist that I reasonably like. Shocker, I know. James Bay, and his recently released single, "Pink Lemonade" is a new brand of rock that I seem to enjoy. I then listened to more of his catalog and was pleased. He is on the more pop-side of rock music, but as far as modern rock goes, he has my stamp of approval.

I have a few photos from some playoff basketball action to share from March 1-6. Enjoy.

Over and Over and Over

Jack White is a musical genius. I don't make that assertion lightly. He is as important to this generation as Dylan, Cash and Elvis were to generations prior. After splitting from partner Meg White, you'd think that Jack would perhaps make even more strange and perhaps off-the-deep-end-type music, but no. He has incredibly listenable, catchy and creative songs as they come. This is perfectly evidenced by his latest single, "Over and Over and Over." The ode to who knows what is a big reason that I can't wait for his new album, "Boarding House Reach," which is set to be released March 23. I really enjoyed Lazaretto, as in it was probably a top 10 album of the last 10 years or maybe more for me, and I am interested to see if this lives up to that.

Anyway, it appears that the only way to purchase photos that you see here is going to have to be by calling the record at 320-632-2345 and ask to purchase a sports photo, and someone will help me help you set it up. Photos are $5 each I believe.

Here are some from Feb. 22-27 at events such as Upsala vs. Swanville boys basketball, Little Falls Section 8-3A wrestling and the Little Falls girls basketball Section 8-3A quarterfinal.
