Ice Cream Man

The weather is almost nice enough to make an ice cream cone a sweet treat worth enjoying, which is great because "Ice Cream Man" is one of the best songs on the British band, Blur's new album "The Magic Whip." The album came out today, and has some good, solid Brit bravado on it from the band that brought us "Song 2."

Sports were cancelled for April 20-21 because of rain and cold, so there aren't too many photos this week. Next week will be a bit better.

Lane Girtz looks at the home plate umpire to see if he was called out or safe at Holdingford, April 23.

Looks Like Rain

"Looks Like Rain" from Passion Pit's third studio album "Kindred" is a perfect describer of what's been going on lately, except maybe it should be looks like snow. It's been a rain/snow/sleet mix the past couple days, throw in below average temperatures and wind, and you have a culprit, postponing many events. As far as "Kindred" is concerned. It is a solid effort from the Northeastern US indie staple since 2008.

I have many pictures this week, but don't expect quite as many next week.

Dakota Tresco congratulates teammate Brady Moulzolf after he knocked in the game-winning run against Holdingford on April 14.

Man of Constant Sorrow

Yodeling Dwight Yoakam does it again with his latest album, "Second Hand Heart." This is no better on display than the remake of "Man of Constant Sorrow" (made famous by the film, "O! Brother, Where Art Thou?"). This hard rocking, rock-a-billy version is as fantastic as Yoakam's yodel.

I only have five photos to share this week, thanks to Easter break and a rain out, but enjoy. There will be several more photos next week as well.

Pierz senior pitcher Cody Meyer releases a fastball, April 2 against Little Falls.

Flyers third baseman, Justin Jenks, releases a throw toward first against the Pioneers.

Jenks charges a grounder to third.

Flyers junior Thomas Miller delivers a pitch out of the stretch.

Pioneers junior Noah Boser takes a big cut at a pitch.

Bail Me Out

The song "Bail Me Out" from All Time Low's latest album "Future Hearts," which came out today, could really be put to the current situation in Morrison County. It has been raining off and on the past couple days, so bring out the buckets and "Bail Me Out." The song features pop/punk pioneer Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, which is amazing. The whole album is full of catchy, All Time Low-type songs. It's not as good as their early stuff on "So Wrong, It's Right" or "Nothing Personal," but it is still another strong effort. A great follow up to another good album, "Don't Panic," that came out in 2013.

I have several pictures to share from the first softball and baseball games that I made it to this year.

Upsala Swanville Area (USA) senior Tyler Evans swings at a pitch March 30, in a scrimmage against Pierz. The catcher is Pierz' Matt Kummet.

Pierz outfielder Kolton Eischens, a junior, takes a cut at a pitch in a March 30 scrimmage in Upsala. Upsala Swanville Area catcher Tyler Evans, a senior, awaits the pitch if Eischens were to miss.
